Samoa's parliament will be in session today to discuss and choose the appointment of the country's next head of state.
The five year term of the current head of state, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, ended this month.
The ruling HRPP party held a caucus meeting this week to discuss each of its MPs nominations.
It also held similar discussions with the opposition Tautua Samoa party on their nominations.
Unconfirmed sources last night say it is likely the current head of state has the support of both parties to continue with the position for another five year term.
The announcement of the final decision will be made in parliament sometime today.
