3:14 pm on 30 July 2012

A United States government delegation will tour the Pacific islands for two weeks from this week, the second consecutive year of a show of high-level interest from Washington.

US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Island Affairs Kurt Campbell, Admiral Cecil Haney, the Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, and US AID Mission Director Gloria Steele are heading the group.

The island-hopping visit will see the group spend one-to-two days in each of the islands they are touring.

The visit will include the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati and the Marshall Islands.
