Sport: Pacific weightlifters finishes out of medals

Micronesian weightlifter Manuel Minginfel has finished out of medal contention at the London Olympics lifted a total of 285kg, which saw him finish 10th overall in the men's 62kg class.

The result is an improvement for the 33 year old, who finished tenth at the last Games in Beijing four years ago.

North Korea's Kim Un Guk won the gold medal with a world record lift of 327kg, while Lapua Lapua from Tuvalu finished 12th and Palau's Stevick Patris was 14th.

Meanwhile in judo, Aleni Smith of Samoa and Sled Dowwabobo from Nauru finished out of contention in the men's under 73kg class.

Dowwabobo was beaten by an opponent from Uzbekistan in the opening round, while Smith was given a bye into the last 32, where he lost against Jaromir Jezek from the Czech Republic.
