Nerves are in no short supply for a couple of Olympic debutants.

Cook Islands sprinters Patricia Taea and Patrick Tuara will make their Olympic debut at the weekend when the track and field competition gets underway at London's Olympic Stadium.

The country's Chef de Mission George George Williamson says, after watching some of their peers compete, they're looking forward to it but are certainly feeling a few nerves.

"They're both agreed that they're feeling a bit of pressure on them and this being their first Olympics and a lot of big names to meet on the track and they're both feeling the pressure there."
