Fiji businesses urged to join constitutional process

6:33 am on 6 August 2012

Fiji's Attorney-General and Minister for Industry and Trade has called on businesses to make submissions to the Constitution Commission in order to have their concerns addressed.

The Fiji Times reports the Suva Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Dr Nur Bano Ali told a business forum that government service delivery is one of the main factors holding back investment.

However, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says Dr Ali's comments are unfair.

He says the Constitution Commission plays a major role in terms of the changes and the processes that are in place in terms of business development.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum says business houses need to participate in political processes like the constitutional consultations to have their qualms heard.
