The Fiji Minister for Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment says it will endeavour to implement a final Wages Regulation Order despite the resignation of the Chairperson of the Wages Council.

Mr Usamate says the submissions process has been completed on the 10 proposed regulation orders and he is now waiting for the Wages Council to consider these.

"In accordance with our regulations here, once those submissions have been received, the Wages Council needs to consider them. Father Barr is the Chairperson of that Wages Council -needs to consider and then come up with a final proposal that they will issue, that they will give to me as minister."

Jone Usamate says he is meeting with officials from the Ministry to discuss how to proceed following the resignation of Father Barr.
