Another village mayor or Pulenuu in Samoa has been sacked by the government.
The mayor of Magiagi village, in the suburbs of the capital Apia, Tuiono Uini Keni, was served with a termination letter last Friday.
Tuiono believes he sacked because he supported the village council's decision to reject the installation of Electric Power Corporation cash power meters to every household.
Magiagi families have owed unpaid electricity bills to the EPC of around ten million US dollars in the past fourteen years.
Tuiono is the second mayor to be sacked by the government in a week.
Last week, the pulenuu of Satapuala village Ga Sakaria was also sacked over the land dispute between Satapuala village and the Samoa government.
Villagers from Satapuala last week partially blocked a road from Apia to Faleolo airport to prevent land surveyors and police access to land they want returned.
Meanwhile, the Minister responsible for mayors and government representatives, Tolofuaivalelei Falemoe Leiataua, says a meeting is scheduled for village representatives and Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi on Thursday.
