Fiji bounced back from an opening defeat to beat Vanuatu by six wickets at the East Asia Pacific Under 17 Cricket Champs in Lautoka on Monday.

After dismissing Vanuatu for just 75 the hosts made short work of their target, with Rusiate Vuanicau and Akaripa Tuinasau's unbeaten stand of 37 guiding them to victory.

In the earlier game, defending champs PNG laid down their market, racking up 134 for 9 before tearing through the Fiji batting lineup to win by 69 runs.

Ruma Igua was the pick of the bowlers with 4-4.
