Struggling American Samoa hospital wants bigger budget

1:57 pm on 30 August 2012

The cash strapped LBJ Medical Center in American Samoa is proposing a budget of just over 39 million US dollars for the coming financial year with most of the money coming from the federal government.

The budget is an increase of one and a half million US dollars on the current year and allows for an additional 51 staff.

It has not clearly identified what the hospital hopes to earn from new rate hikes that went into effect early last month.
