The Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, Benigno Fitial, says he will soon address allegations against him that have sparked a push by the opposition to have him impeached.

The allegations include his role in a secretive deal with an American company to build a power station and sell the electricity to the state owned utility.

The Fitial administration has called the impeachment resolution frivolous.

The resolution against Mr Fitial lists 16 articles of impeachment for felony, corruption and neglect of duty.
