The Samoa Observer and Samoa's Head of State Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi are the two recipients of this year's Robert Louis Stevenson award.
Jim Winegar, President of the RLS Foundation credited the newspaper with keeping the late Scottish writer's work alive and well through its pages.
The newspaper's founder and editor Savea Sano Malifa acknowledged the honour saying that some of Stevenson's writings had inspired him.
The award was presented during commemorations of the birthday of the writer who made Samoa his home and is buried on Mount Vaea, a major tourist attraction.
Mr Winegar says every year they try to remember those who have contributed to the preservation of Stevenson's work.
