Sport: Only a win in OFC football will satisfy Tahiti and New Caledonia derby

Tahiti and New Caledonia risk being left behind if they fail to record a win in their Oceania World Cup qualifying match in Papeete on Tuesday local time.

Nations Cup champions Tahiti were beaten 2-0 by Solomon Islands last week while Les Cagous fell to New Zealand by the same scoreline in Noumea.

With the All Whites leading the qualifying group on six points from two matches, Tahiti coach Eddy Etaeta says it's crucial they win to keep in touch.

"I think it's an advantage to play it at home but after the two teams - New Caledonia and Tahiti - lost their first game that's why it's a big match for the two teams. We must give a good result and to prepare for the New Zealand games in October and November, because if the team loses it complicates thing for the future for qualifying."
