Dozens of journalists are expected to converge on Honiara for the brief royal visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this weekend.

At least 80 foreign media personnel are expected to be following the royal entourage when it arrives early on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile Police Commissioner, John Lansley, says security arrangements have been confirmed, with the local force working with the Regional Assistance Mission's police and military.

He says the highlight of the visit will be when the couple travel by open truck into Honiara from the airport.

Prince William and his wife Catherine will also attend a service at the Church of Melanesia and visit the Festival of Arts venue where they will meet artists, carvers and ordinary Solomon Islanders.

The couple will then travel to Marau on the eastern side of Guadalcanal where villagers will present a cultural ceremony.
