American Samoa's governor, Togiola Tulafono, is backing Leilua Stevenson to be the new President of the Development Bank of American Samoa.

Miss Stevenson, who has been director of Human and Social Services for the last four years, has been approved by the Development Bank Board of Directors by a vote of 5-1.

She needs Senate confirmation and it's expected that her nomination will be submitted before the current legislature ends on October 3rd.

Miss Stevenson is a US Certified Public Accountant and before joining Governor Togiola's cabinet was Finance Manager for StarKist Samoa.

She replaces former Bank president Lolo Letalu Moliga who resigned in May to run as governor in the November 6 elections.
