The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group at a meeting in New York has reiterated its commitment to helping Fiji rejoin the body through the restoration of civilian constitutional democracy.
In a statement the ministers say they welcome the continued progress in Fiji, including voter registration and the constitutional consultation process.
They say a broad-based national dialogue on Fiji's future is taking place through that process, and have commended the Constitutional Commission on its work to date.
The Ministers say this process needs to be fully independent, inclusive and without pre-determined outcomes.
They have also expressed concerns about continuing restrictions on human rights and the rule of law, and urged the interim government to create an environment where credible constitutional consultations can take place.
The Ministerial Action Group is expected to visit Fiji in November.
