Tonga's Police Commissioner says he does not expect any more people will be charged in relation to the death of New Zealand Police Officer Kali Fungavaka in Tonga.

But Grant O'Fee does not rule out the possibility as the homicide investigation continues.

To date six male accused, including five Tongan police officers and one detainee, have each been charged with manslaughter.

The three police officers included the supervising officer, Inspector Kelepi Hala'ufia, and four constables Manu Tu'ivai, Tevita Vakalahi, Salesi Maile and Fatai Faletau.

The detainee is Semisi Kalisitiane Manu.

Commissioner O'Fee told Matangi Tonga online says they have a got a long way to go to restore public confidence after this incident but a significant step is that they have placed their own staff before the court.
