3:48 pm on 3 October 2012

Investigations are underway at two prisons in Fiji after about 100 mobile phones were found in the possession of inmates.

FBC News reports other items found include mobile phone chargers, cigarette lighters, tobacco, sim cards, CDs and cigarettes.

The corrections spokesperson Ana Tudrau says they are baffled as to how the inmates got the items, given the tight security.

She says contraband is being brought in by visitors.
