2:49 pm on 9 October 2012

A Samoan opposition MP, Toesulusulu Cedric Schuster, has appeared in court together with several senior matais and untitled men as well as a woman of his village of Satapuala on charges filed after they blocked a key road in August.

The 18 people have yet to enter a plea after the prosecution secured an adjournment for four weeks to allow police to finalise their investigations.

Two of the defendants did not appear and a warrant of arrest has been issued for them to be kept in custody until the next mention of the case on November the 6th.

Meanwhile, all of them are facing similar charges such as threatening the police, stone throwing, unlawful blocking of a public road and uttering obscene language to the police.
