Tonga's Court of Appeal has overturned a conviction against former Speaker, Lord Lasike, for the unlawful possession of ammunition.

Lord Lasike was convicted in July by Chief Justice Michael Scott on one count of possessing point 22 ammunition without a licence.

He was fined just over 280 US dollars.

A week later, King Tupou the 6th removed him as the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and he lost his seat in parliament.
