A strong 6.6-magnitude earthquake rattled Vanuatu over the weekend but there were no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami warning was issued.
The United States Geological Survey says Sunday's quake was 500 kilometres northwest of the capital Port Vila at a depth of 35 kilometres.
