The Papua New Guinea Trade Minister, Richard Maru, wants New Zealand companies to help start sheep and dairy farming industries in his country.
He is also encouraging investment in the development of geothermal power.
Mr Maru says PNG imports all its dairy and sheepmeat requirements and he thinks links with world leading companies in New Zealand could have a dramatic impact in his country.
"70 percent of our people who could work are unemployed in the villages. We have got land where people are looking for opportunities. These are very high employment industries so we think that getting New Zealand companies to come up and either join us in joint venture investments or using New Zealand expertise, we can develop these as local industries here - to replace imports, create wealth and create employment for our people."

The New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully is due in Port Moresby next week to follow up talks earlier this month when Mr Maru brought a delegation here.
