Dozens of Papua New Guinea's MPs are yet to submit their election expenses and have been warned if this is not done by Thursday they will be fined.

The Registrar of Political Parties, Dr Alphonse Gelu, says the fines are about 2 thousand 400 US dollars for parties and 500 US dollars for individual MPs.

The Post Courier reports that Dr Gelu issued the warning on Monday at which point just 10 of the 111 MPs had filed their acquittals.

Dr Gelu said that three months was sufficient for MPs to prepare their election expenses and submit to the office.
