The election morning in American Samoa has gone smoothly according to reports from the Election Office and the Department of Public Safety.
Voter turnout has been light at most polling places, but Election Officials expect a surge of voters this afternoon when people cast their votes on the way home from work.
Some poll watchers were not allowed into polling places because their names were not on the Election Office list.
This prevented some of them from witnessing the opening of ballot boxes to ensure they were empty.
American Samoans are electing a Governor, Lieutenant Governor, a delegate to the US Congress and members of the territory's House of Representatives.
