Fiji interim government refuses to comment on own investigation

The Fiji interim government is refusing to comment on its own investigation into the injuries recieved by escaped prisoners during their recapture in September.

At least four of the five men were hospitalised, including one who had to have his leg amputated after being captured in a joint operation by police and soldiers.

In late September the government issued a statement saying it didn't condone excessive force used in the apprehension of the prisoners who escaped from Naboro prison.

The statement said the government was investigating the circumstances but nearly six weeks later the Ministry of Information says it has no comment on the investigation.
