The Northern Marianas delegate to the US Congress says he supports calls for the territory's governor to resign over alleged corruption.
The Saipan Tribune reports the delegate, Gregorio Kilili Sablan, as saying the governor should save himself and everyone the trouble and step down.
In Tuesday's election, candidates opposing Governor Benigno Fitial won an overwhelming majority of the house of representatives.
This means a motion to impeach the governor on allegations of corruption, felony and neglect of duty is likely to pass.
Governor Fitial wouldn't answer questions about his job, but says it is time to put politics aside and put the CNMI first.
