The two injured yachties stranded off the coast of Tonga have been safely transferred to a cargo ship.
The 52-year-old Welsh man, Steven Jones and 43-year-old Auckland woman, Tanya Davies, set off their emergency beacon on Wednesday evening.
Their yacht, Windigo, had rolled in a 10-metre swell, and rough seas made it difficult to rescue the pair.
The search and rescue mission coordinator, Keith Allen, says heaving lines from the cargo ship were able to be lowered to the yacht, and the couple have since been pulled to safety.
He says their medical condition will be assessed, but it's understood both suffered minor head injuries and Mr Jones has also hurt his back.
The HMNZS Otago is still enroute to the area, and will meet with the cargo ship this afternoon.
