The Australian Red Cross has yet to comment on the findings from its visit to Nauru where about 400 asylum seekers are being held for offshore processing.

In a statement, the NGO says the trip was an initial observation visit only and that no ongoing role has been determined or negotiated by the Australian Red Cross.

It says Red Cross representatives met key stakeholders as part of the visit but the detail of those meetings is confidential.

It also says any feedback the organisation provides from the visit will be discussed first with Government.

It adds that that is consistent with the work it undertakes in Immigration Detention Centres in Australia and other places where asylum seekers are processed.
