Lot to determine American Samoa House seat

5:48 pm on 13 November 2012

The next representative for Fagatogo in the American Samoa House of Representatives will be chosen by lot.

After last week's election, the incumbent Vailiuama Steve Leasiolagi and Maugaoalii Leapai Sipa Anoa'i whom Vailiuama unseated in the 2010 general elections were tied with 207 ballots each.

The Chief Election Officer says as the law provides, the tie will be decided by lot, under his supervision.

He didn't say when or how the drawing will be done.

If the candidates agree to the process, they are not allowed to contest the result.
