Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has held talks with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, agreeing to strengthen the bilateral trade and investment relationship.

The newspaper, The National, reports that during their meeting in Bali, the two leaders discussed issues of mutual concern and agreed to working together to develop the oil, gas and electricity sectors in PNG.

Mr O'Neill said the PNG government will look to engage Indonesian companies in its plans to provide power for PNG towns along the PNG/Indonesian border.

He says his government also plans to engage Indonesian companies to build roads to connect towns in PNG.

The Prime Minister also says PNG will seek assistance from Indonesia to develop its airline, gas and power industries.
