CNMI, Guam hospitals work on potential sharing of expertise

The only hospital in the Northern Marianas is considering sharing expertise with Guam Memorial Hospital.

One of three options the management of the CNMI's lone hospital is looking into immediately is to have a laboratory director and manager from Guam.

In exchange, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation is willing to lend Guam an ultrasound technician it needs.

The CNMI had earlier been placed under jeopardy status by the U.S. Centre for Medicare and Medicaid.

If an arrangement with Guam does not come to fruition the Corporation will consider using an off-island recruitment firm, HeadHunter, to find the specialist staff it needs.

It could also go to the Department of Human Health Services, which could help bring in the needed professionals, probably for up to one year.
