The Samoa Cabinet has approved one acre in Samoa for the American Samoan government to build an office in Apia.

The land swap was agreed to at the recent Samoa Talks in Pago Pago.

Samoa's Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi said during the Samoa talks that the territory could allocate a piece of land in Tafuna, for Samoa to build an office.

At present the Samoa consulate is leasing space in a building in Fagatogo owned by the Methodist Church.

In Samoa, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has been directed to select the appropriate location of land for the American Samoa office in Samoa.
