Fiji's interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, who also holds the finance portfolio, is delivering his budget in Suva.

The Ministry of Information says the interim government has allocated about 94 million US dollars to the ministry of health, an increase of just over eight million.

The budget imposes a 10 percent tax increase on alcohol and tobacco related goods, as part of measures to promote healthy living.

The government has also allocated just over six million US dollars for the elections office in preparations of the proposed 2014 elections.
