Samoa judge orders arrest of convicted former public service commissioner and politician

A Supreme Court judge in Samoa has accepted an application to issue a warrant to arrest a former public service commissioner and politician, Mulitalo Siafausa.

Mulitalo has not appeared in court for re-sentence on ten counts of committing indecent acts.

He was originally sentenced to pay one and half thousand dollars compensation to a victim and to carry out community service.

The defendant was scheduled to appear yesterday for resentencing after the court of appeal upheld the appeal against that sentence.

Meanwhile the court has also ordered for convicted medical doctor, Le Mamea Dr Emosi Puni, to be held in custody to await his sentence on the 12 of December.

The defendant was found guilty of one count of indecent assault but his appeal against the verdict was dismissed by the court of appeal last Friday.
