NCD Bilateral Summit opens in American Samoa

Today is the opening of the 3rd Annual NCD Bilateral Summit between Samoa and American Samoa.

The summit, hosted by American Samoa brings together health, government and community leaders from both islands to continue discussions on ways to eliminate non communicable diseases.

NCDs include diabetes, heart diseases and cancer, accounts for 75 percent of deaths in the Pacific every year.

The summit is being hosted by the Department of Health in conjunction with the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, World Health Organization and the Australian Government.
