Incoming American Samoa administration to conduct wide ranging review

4:11 pm on 29 November 2012

The incoming administration in American Samoa says a planned review will address all areas of government including semi-independent authorities as well as line agencies under the Governor's office.

Iulogologo Joseph Pereira says an organisational chart shows there are 49 different departments and agencies, each with their own budget and staff.

In what will be the first major transition in 16 years the review will focus on finance, workers, assets and third party contracts and leases.

Iulogologo says a problem that may hinder the review is several directors are heading off island leaving their deputies to answer questions and provide the information the transition team needs.
