The former mayor of Vanuatu's capital and now a Port Vila MP, Patrick Crowby, has been officially welcomed back into the Union of Moderate Parties.

The Daily Post reports that Mr Crowby's application to return to the UMP fold went unchallenged at the Port Vila UMP Mini Congress.

Mr Crowby left the party in the mid 1990s to join the National United Party for a number of years before deciding to return to the UMP which is currently part of Vanuatu's opposition.
