The Vanuatu police operation to arrest senior police officers has been put on hold.
On Tuesday, police arrested 11 senior police officers who have since been released.
They were accused of mutiny, inciting mutiny, kidnapping, unlawful arrest and unlawful imprisonment of the current acting police commissioner, Arthur Caulton, and the former chairman of Police Service Commission, Tony Arthur.
The senior police officers are also accused of attempting to arrest Head of State, Iolu Johnson Abbil, the Deputy Prime Minister, Ham Lini, and the then Internal Affairs Minister Georges Wells in September.
However the attempt to arrest former police commissioner, Joshua Bong, and several other officers has been put on hold following advice from the Attorney General incidating the arrests of the eleven officers were illegal.
