A successful campaign against sexually transmitted infection in Nauru has seen the occurrence of chlamydia drop by nearly 90 per cent.
The campaign was launched in 2009 and backed by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community.
The director of Public Health in Nauru Dr Seta Vatucawaqa attributes the campaign's success to mass treatment and education.
But he says their job is only half done.
"Our challenge is now, is to try and maintain our low rates and we hope to do that with sustained education and promotion of youth-friendly services as well as continuing awareness in our population to protect themselves against transmission of STIs."
