9:23 am on 13 December 2012

Hosts Fiji remain unbeaten in both the World League and Oceania Pacific Cup hockey tournaments in Suva, following contrasting victories on Wednesday.

The Fiji men guaranted a top place finish from their World League group after thumping Vanuatu 17-2.

That result ensured Vanuatu remain winless across all competitions going into Thursday's Oceania Pacific Cup clash with New Zealand Maori.

The Fiji women stayed top in the Oceania Pacific Cup after beating defending champs Australia Country 3-1 following penalties.

They can also secure top spot in their World League group if they beat Samoa on Thursday evening.

In other results from Day 5, Papua New Guinea's women won their World League match against Vanuatu 3-0 and New Zealand Maori beat Samoa 6-0 in the Oceania Pacific Cup.
