The street's of Fiji's second largest town Nadi are deserted, power is down and people are preparing for more infrastructure damage.

Dr Ram Raju of Nadi's Chamber of Commerce says many businesses including his own have generators now following two episodes of devastating and fatal flooding in the Nadi area earlier this year.

"This is still in our minds what we have gone through so yes it is quite obvious everyone has taken extra precautions this time around. I mean they had several days notification and I think everbody has stocked up well. It's just unfortunate, we were recovering pretty well and all of a sudden another major disaster is on its way."
