Alarmed over media, Vanuatu PM threatens legal action

The Vanuatu Prime Minister, Sato Kilman, has threatened legal action against the Media Association of Vanuatu.

In a letter to the Association's president, Evelyne Toa, Mr Kilman says he will ensure justice prevails and that law and order is maintained.

He says he is deeply concerned by what he says is the unethical and unrestrained behaviour of some journalists and radio announcers.

Mr Kilman says these people think they are above the law, and by encouraging the people with suggestive actions and comments in their reporting and their talk back shows, they are inciting.

The Prime Minister says he is concerned that suggestive, unrestrained and unsolicited media remarks that may lead to public unrest.
