Guam's police captain investigated for suspected security breach

Guam's police captain has been arrested as a result of an investigation into a suspected security breach at the Department of Corrections or DOC.

Police haven't given details of the alleged breach, but DOC has told Pacific Daily News that it's connected to a case involving a local brothel.

Captain Mark Charfauros was arrested on suspicion of official misconduct, according to a press release from police.

He has now been released and will spend 20 days on administrative leave.

Meanwhile, internal investigations into the allegations against Mr Charfauros continue at both the police department and the corrections agency.

A separate, internal investigation into the Blue House brothel case, where nine women were forced into prostitution between 2004 and 2008, also continues at the police department.

Mr Charfauros' defense attorney F. Randall Cunliffe says the complaint against his client is politically motivated.
