Seven people from Tanna are facing charges in Vanuatu over a raid in the capital, Port Vila, which led to the death of an elderly chief from Tongoa island.
The man was run over by a bus which had been driven by a man from Tanna during a stone throwing clash between Tongoans and Tannese in Port Vila.
According to the Daily Post newspaper, the driver of the bus has been charged with reckless driving causing death.
The other six suspects have been charged with unlawful assembly, criminal trespass, damage to property and theft.
The seven have been released on bail.
The death of the elderly man led to the first peaceful march of its kind through the capital with the victim's coffin to show public frustration over the bad behaviour by some groups from outer islands.
