A major project to clean up the sea front of Vanuatu's capital, Port Vila, is due to begin in March.
The Daily Post reports the project is funded by the New Zealand government in partnership with the Department of Local Authorities, the Department of Tourism and Port Vila Municipal Council.
The head of the Department of Local Authorities, Cheryl Ala, says the project will involve landscaping and beautifying about two kilometres of the foreshore area of Port Vila.
She says the biggest part of the task will be the rehabilitation of the seafront and the Seafront Promenade area.
Ms Ala says the aim is to improve the image of Port Vila as a port-of-call and to ensure security for tourists.
