Samoa's Ministry of Education is working to ensure that the seven most damaged schools by tropical cyclone Evan will be ready to start classes in a few weeks.

Its CEO Matafeo Tanielu Aiafi has started meeting with the School Committees to discuss options to ensure the school year will not be hampered by the damaged school buildings.

The ministry is looking at utilizing existing halls and meeting houses in the villages where the schools are as temporary classrooms.

The start of the 2013 school year will also have four terms.

Changing to four terms will provide longer school hours but will not affect the level of school fees.
