French Polynesia capital ups surveillance

12:31 pm on 11 January 2013

French Polynesian radio reports that more cameras are being installed in Papeete in a bid to increase public safety.

The move is in response to increased delinquency in the city, which has seen more poverty amid the territory's economic decline.

The mayor of Papeete, Michel Buillard, says among measures to be considered is a curfew for minors.
