A tropical cyclone alert has been issued for the Cook Islands by the Fiji Met service
Cyclone Garry is moving away from American Samoa and towards the Cook Islands.
The Cook Islands Met Office director Arona Ngari says on its current track, the cyclone will travel between the Northern and Southern Cook Islands.
"Considering it has come straight from American Samoa, the only island in its path if it continues in a south easterly direction is Suwarrow. Suwarrow is actually located between the Northern Cooks and the Southern Cooks."
Arona Ngari says the cyclone will be the first one this season.
