The Samoan Minister of Health has confirmed that a new mental health clinic will built in two years.

The Minister, Tuitama Leao Dr Talalelei Tuitama told the Samoa Observer that the old clinic, behind the Oceania University of Medicine, has been demolished to make way for the new hospital.

He says mental health services will be provided from another hospital while construction takes place, but a number of patients have been released into the care of their families.

Dr Tuitama says these patients are not violent and pose no risk to the general public.
