Last year was the best in four years for Copra producers in the Marshall Islands, according to recently released Government data.

Just over 6 thousand tonnes of copra was delivered to the Government coconut oil mill in Majuro, the highest since a record total of close to 8,000 tonnes was reached in 2008.

In total, deliveries of copra to the Majuro plant are up 35 per cent since 2007, when the Marshall Islands shipping corporation was established to provide a more reliable service for coconuts to reach the mill from the outer islands.
