The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association says the industry will soon be able to reach untapped markets thanks to the purchase of new aircraft by the national carrier, Air Pacific.
The first of three new Airbus A330s is due in Fiji on March the 19th, with the second and third arriving in May and November.
It is the first time in the history of Air Pacific, soon to be rebranded Fiji Airways, that the airline will own its own wide-bodied aircraft.
The president of the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association, Dixon Seeto, says the new planes have longer range, which opens up potential for the tourism industry.
"We'll be able to access many of the points that's been on the drawing board in terms of markets like China and India and the Asian sub-continents and all this is now accessible, and certainly the various Asian hubs would be within reach."
Dixon Seeto says the planes are also more fuel efficient which will allow the airline to be more competitive in fares.
